Money For More Then Nothing
So I was chatting with my best friend earlier today – she has the opportunity to do payroll deductions with various companies and has done so. She bought her daughter a new bedroom set, herself a new mattress, etc. And yesterday was payday and she was left with $150.
Granted, she doesn’t pay rent because her mom owns the house she lives in and she lives in the same town she works in. But I’m not sure when it happened, a “give us a check, we will give you cash and then charge you fee” business opened up. So she is going over to do a transaction with them today to get more money. She said she needed to buy groceries and gas. That is totally understandable. And then she is going out of town this weekend.
I lectured her (yes, lectured) about how wrong that was, how the interest they were charging her was just insane, etc. And she said well how is she supposed to have money. And I said you don’t. Period.
She is my best friend, more like a sister, and I’m thinking dang how do you get ahead of that! She has all these various payroll deductions coming out of her paycheck and she just spends money left and right.
The past few months have been the hardest, financially, we have been through. We have gone a week with no money, enough gas for DH to get to work and that’s it. We would never think to go to one of those advance pay places. I want to find out who owns the business back in that town – my hometown – and do something to shut them down. That is the thing that makes me the most angry then I have been in a long time.
